The Therapist

Dyslexia hit home for me in 2013 when my youngest son was given a diagnosis for dyslexia and an expressive and receptive language disorder. I felt lost and confused. I didn't understand how this bright, intelligent child was just given a learning difference label. After many tears, I realized I had to figure out what needed to be done in order for him to be successful in life. After research, I knew the answer was dyslexia therapy intervention. My son began therapy, and I began learning how to become an interventionist.

My journey as a therapist began when I became a therapist at The 3D School in Petal, MS. I was blessed to work side by side with some of the state's best therapists and therapy instructors for three years. Besides my dyslexia therapy education, I hold an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education, and I have a current Mississippi Teachers License with endorsements in Language Arts (7th - 12th grade) , Special Education (K - 12th grade), and Social Studies (7th - 12th grade). I have a wide range of educational experience in both general and special education. I hold a Master's Degree from William Carey University in Dyslexia Therapy and a National Certification as an Academic Language Therapist (CALT). I am also a Nationally Certified Dyslexia Specialist (CDS). Personally, I know the struggles our dyslexic children and families endure. My goal is to provide scientifically proven strategies to help struggling readers reach their maximum potential.

Testimonials:

"We first met Susan at the 3-D School. She was our son's first teacher/dyslexia therapist. She has a natural ease with her students and their worried mommas. She brought our child out of his shell and built his confidence in reading, through her skills as a dyslexia therapist. She truly cares about children with dyslexia and helps give them the skills they need to become successful.  Her care and compassion for her students and their families doesn't stop when they finish her program...three years out of the program and I can still message her with questions and concerns, and she will answer them and set my worried momma mind at ease."

Joel and Jessica Traweek, Tuscaloosa, AL

"Before we met Mrs. Cosby, we knew nothing about dyslexia therapy or what that would look like for our daughter. We were anxious taking this new step, but Mrs. Cosby made us feel at ease. She is incredibly kind and attentive to each of her students. I never doubted that we were getting one of the best teachers. She made our daughter feel comfortable, and we saw such a difference in her in a short amount of time. We couldn't have had a better experience."

R. Pfleger, Hattiesburg, MS
